How to Join

Please read all instructions carefully before entering the membership application portal.

We are excited that you are considering the opportunity to join the Spine Therapy Network, a network of therapists with advanced knowledge in spine care. In order to streamline the process and make it as convenient or easy as possible we ask that you follow the instructions listed below. The current criteria to join STN apply only to Physical Therapists and Chiropractic at this time. STN will be establishing endorsement criteria for additional professions in the future as the network develops.

CHIROPRACTIC:

  1. If you are a Chiropractor, one of the following Credentials are a minimum requirement to join the network. Please have proof of certification available in PDF format for upload:
    • Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada)
    • Fellow of the Canadian Chiropractic Specialty College of Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation
    • Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Sciences
    • Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Orthopaedists (Canada)
    • Fellow of the Chiropractic College of Radiologists (Canada)
    • Advanced Spine Practitioner Inter-professional Spine Assessment and Education Clinicians (ISAEC)
    • Advanced Spine Practitioner McKenzie certification/Diploma
    • Any foreign training equivalent to the above[1](please list)
  2. In addition to at least one of the above credentials please also prepare the following in PDF format for upload:
    • College Registration Number
    • Current malpractice certificate
    • Certificate of Designation (where available)
    • A letter of reference from a colleague or mentor within your discipline attesting to your expertise in degenerative spine conditions
    • A letter of reference from another professional outside of your discipline. This letter should demonstrate your ability to provide evidence based, effective, client-centered, care of degenerative spine conditions and inter-professional collaboration
    • A photo of yourself – head shot
    • A CV summary (use STN-Biosketch template) demonstrating
    • Maximum of 4 pages
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience treating degenerative spinal conditions
    • Evidence of ongoing education, teaching and/or research in the treatment of degenerative spine conditions

PHYSICAL THERAPISTS:

If you are a Physical Therapist, one of the following Credentials are a minimum requirement to join the network. Please have proof of certification available in PDF format for upload:

  • Advanced Clinician Practitioner in Arthritis Care (ACPAC)
  • Advanced Spine Practitioner Inter-professional Spine Assessment and Education Clinicians (ISAEC)
  • Canadian Physiotherapy Association Clinical Musculoskeletal Specialist
  • McKenzie Certification with Credentialing exam completed or Diploma
  • McMaster University’s Advanced Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal-Manipulative Physiotherapy Specialization
  • Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Diploma of Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy
  • University of Western Ontario’s, Masters of Clinical Science Degree in Manipulative Therapy
  • Any foreign training equivalent to the above
  • In addition to at least one of the above credentials please also prepare the following for upload as pdf:
  • College Registration Number
  • Current malpractice certificate
  • Certificate of Designation (where available)
  • A letter of reference from a colleague or mentor within your discipline attesting to your expertise in degenerative conditions
  • A letter of reference from another professional outside of your discipline. This letter should demonstrate your ability to provide evidence based, effective, client-centered, care of degenerative spine conditions and inter-professional collaboration
  1. A photo of yourself – Headshot
  2. A CV summary (use STN-Biosketch template) demonstrating:
    • Maximum of 4 pages
    • Minimum of 4 years’ experience treating degenerative spinal conditions
    • Evidence of ongoing education, teaching and/or research in the treatment of             degenerative spine conditions

We recommend that you prepare all documents in the required format before initiating the application process. The application will include the process of setting up an STN account first which will require a valid email address and creation of a password. This will be done through a secure link emailed to you.

Once an account is set-up there is an electronic application form to complete as well as a place for upload of the prepared documents. You will be asked if you agree to the STN code of conduct.

When you are providing an e-signature in the system, the first time you are required to provide this twice. Once you have initiated the application process you will have 30 days to complete it.

Once the application has been completed, you will hear from the STN administrators regarding the status of your application and next steps. If the application is complete you will be informed regarding status of review within 3 to 4 business days. If the application is incomplete you will be required to upload all pertinent elements before receiving a status of application notice.

The membership committee meets quarterly and your application will be reviewed at the next meeting.
