SCIENTIFIC ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Spine Therapy Network is guided by our Scientific Advisory Council consisting of surgical spine specialists, spine educators and conservative spine specialists from across North America.

Identifying Members for the Scientific Advisory Council

The Scientific Advisory Council will consist of members who are highly-regarded in their profession’s spine therapy and treatment community.  These members will be identified by the STN Founders in conjunction with the Executive Committee. The members of the committees will be appointed by the Founders.  This list will be presented to the SAC for discussion however the final appointment remains the decision of the Founders.

 The list of potential committee members will be selected to ensure representation using the following criteria:

1.  Academic qualifications in spine care education

2. Key Opinion leaders in the spine community

3. Commitment to enhancing collaborative inter-professional care

 

Terms of Reference

Scientific Advisory Council members are shareholders. They are appointed for a 3 year term. Following the completion of the 1st term a member may be appointed for additional 1 year terms which are subsequently renewed on an annual basis subject to approval by the Executive.

Role of the Council

·    develop, oversee and participate in education and training initiatives for our members

·    assist in connecting the spinal therapist with the medical, diagnostic and surgical community •

·    assist in connecting the patient and public with advanced spine therapists •

·    initiate and support research to advance the effectiveness of spine therapy •

·    develop protocols and identify best practices to improve the care of the spine patient

·    approve therapists recommended for membership
